Kinsman, Ohio - Roy James Smith, age 71, died on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at his home. He was born on June 27, 1946 in Orangeville, Ohio a son of Hazel (Hayes) and Walter Allen Smith. Having gone to school in Hartford, Roy served in the United States Army in the 28th Artillery Division. Roy was a truck driver for the former Consolidated Nutrition, now ADM of Ravenna, Ohio. Growing up in the Methodist faith, Roy was an active member of the NRA. He was himself a Boy Scout and became a leader when his sons were young. Roy enjoyed hunting and fishing, collecting toy farm equipment and spending time with his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Nicholas Aberegg and a brother, Charles Smith. Survivors include his three sons, Bill J. (Denise) Smith, Navada L. (Tracey) Smith and Lon A. Smith all of Kinsman, Ohio; three brothers, George (Eleanor) Smith of North Bloomfield, Ohio, Allen (Dorothy) Smith of Orangeville, Ohio and Robert (Debbie) Smith of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. No public service will be held per Roy's request. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
