Rufus R. "Rick" McNeely, age 70, of Greene township, Ohio, died Sunday, November 6, 2005 at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren,Ohio. He was born September 5, 1935 in Richlands, Virginia, to Raymond G. and Beatrice E. (Brown) McNeely. Formerly of Mesopotamia, Mr. McNeely had lived in Greene for the past 11 years. He retired from the United States Air Force after 22 1/2 years as a jet engine specialist. He was also employed by Pratt & Whitney of Hartford, Connecticut, as a field representative for five years, retiring in 1992. Mr. McNeely was a member of the Southern Baptist Church of Mumfordville, KY; and he enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, and was a Joseph Badger High School and Denver Broncos fan. He also enjoyed his time as pitcher for the U.S. Air Force Fast Pitch softball team. He is survived by his wife, Mary E. (Brewster), whom he married Nov. 29, 1958; his daughter, Sharee E. (Ricky) Smith of Sterling, CO; three sons, Richard R. (Paula) McNeely of Virginia Beach, VA, Rodney (Tracy) McNeely of Gustavus township, OH, and Robert R. (Teresa) McNeely of Jonesboro, GA; 8 Grandchildren; and 2 Great Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Rufus McNeely, Jr. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 11, 2005 at 1:00 P.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main St., Kinsman,Ohio, with Rev. Steven Trimble officiating. No calling hours will be held. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Greene township, OH.
