Ruth E. "Betty" Place

Gustavus, Ohio - Ruth E. "Betty" Place, 80, of a lifelong resident of Gustavus, died on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren, Ohio. Mrs. Place was born on January 20, 1926 in Charleston, Ohio to Arthur J. and Ruth I. (Christman) Henceroth. She was a 1943 graduate of Gustavus High School and a 1946 graduate of Mount Sinai Nursing School. Mrs. Place was the surgical supervisor for over 20 years at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1977. She married John B. Place on September 21, 1946. He died on October 2, 2004. Mrs. Place was a member of the Gustavus Federated Church, and enjoyed traveling with family, sewing, gardening and collecting music boxes and cast iron trivets. Along with her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Charles "Bill" Henceroth. Survivors include a daughter Patricia A. (Ronald) Kalas of Gustavus; two sons, J. Michael (Mary) Place of Gustavus, David J. (Deborah) Place of Salem, Ohio; 2 sisters, Wanda Houston and Virginia Mello, both of Salem, Ohio; eight grandchildren Sheri Knepel M.D., Ryan Kalas PhD., Aimee Crabtree, Elizabeth Evans, Marie Place, Jenny Place, Kellie Place, Andy Place and a great grandson Matthew Evans. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 17, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio with Rev. Steven W. Trimble officiating.
