Ruth Ella Hipkins

RUTH ELLA HIPKINS, age 86, of Brookfield, Ohio, died Tuesday, July 10, 2007, at Liberty Health Care Center in Liberty Township, Ohio. She was born September 15, 1920, in Warren, Ohio, to Harvey and Myrtle (Jones) Carson. A former resident of Vernon and long time resident of Cortland, Mrs. Hipkins had been living in Brookfield since 2002. She was a 1938 graduate of Cortland High School. Mrs. Hipkins was employed by Gray's Music Store in Cortland as a bookkeeper and she was self employed doing babysitting and housecleaning work for many years. She was a long time member of the Vernon United Methodist Church; a member of the Vienna Senior Citizens Club; and a past member of the Kinsman and Cortland American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Hipkins enjoyed reading, sewing, bird watching, doing crossword puzzles, and her grandchildren. Mrs. Hipkins married Richard H. Hipkins on June 18, 1939, and was preceded in death by him in 1989. Also preceding her in death are her parents; an infant brother; a brother, Robert Carson; and an uncle, Joseph Carson. She is survived by her son, Richard (Brenda) Hipkins of Ashboro,NC; her daughter, Mary Smith of Brookfield,OH; her son, Mark (Kam) Hipkins of Memphis, TN; 8 Grandchildren; and 5 Great Grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2007 at 11:30 A.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home,8569 Main St., Kinsman,OH, with Pastor John Benigas officiating.
