Ruth E. Thompson

RUTH E. THOMPSON, age 86, of Vienna, Ohio, died Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at her home. She was born June 1, 1919, in Kinsman, Ohio to Chester A. and Mary E. (Paden) Garlock. A long time Vienna resident, Mrs. Thompson was formerly of Kinsman and a 1938 Kinsman High School graduate. She was a homemaker and a member of the Vienna United Methodist Church. Mrs. Thompson was a member of the Vienna Grange for over 70 years and she enjoyed crafting and going to lapidary shows. She is survived by her husband, Clarence N. Thompson, whom she married Nov. 23, 1943, of Vienna; daughter, Carol R. (Greg) Beatty of Vienna, OH; two sons, Ronald C. (Karen) Thompson of Perrysburg, OH, and Robert N. (Jan) Thompson of Vienna, OH; son-in-law, David Shook of West Farmington,OH; 8 grandchildren, Bret Shook, Lance Shook, Jessica Starcher, Clayton Beatty, Carolyn Thompson, Daphne Zeigler, Robert J. Thompson, and Andrea Thompson; 1 Great Grandson, William Shook; and sister-in-law, Jean Garlock, of Kinsman. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Lee Shook;great granddaughter, Madison Shook; two brothers, an infant twin and Lawrence Garlock; and three sisters, Mable Gill, Gladys McElhaney, and Margaret Garlock. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main St., Kinsman,OH, with Rev. Bruce McLaughlin officiating. Burial will follow in Vienna Township Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Friday, April 28th from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Vienna United Methodist Church, Hospice of the Valley, or to the Vienna Grange. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
