Scott Earl Smith

d. March 3, 2013

Scott Earl Smith, age 37, of Painesville, Ohio, known best by his family & friends as "Scotty", went home to the Good Lord as he called Him, on Sunday, March 3, 2013, after losing his battle with bone cancer. He was at home with his family in Cherry Valley, Ohio. A class of 1993 graduate of Mentor High School, he had enjoyed being part of the wrestling team. He attended Hocking Hills College and was a graduate of the NRTI-The National Ranger Training Institute. Scott enjoyed living a humble, simple life to the fullest. He was a dedicated outdoorsman, a fisherman at the river's edge, snowboarder, backpacker, and mudder in his CJ7 Jeep at Yankee Lake or cliffs at Wellsville. Although he was a gifted CNC programmer and master machinist at his family's business, AMS-Advance Manufacturing Services, in Wickliffe, his heart's work was as a carpenter. A tough little guy, driving his beat up Ford F250 to put on his tool belt and create with his hands, was his life, which often resulted in gifts to others. He left his mark on all those he touched in an indelible way. He is survived by his "Momma", Karen, Dad, Jeff, his brother, Phil and wife, Annette and nephew, Wes, and his brother, Ryan, and wife, Linda. His bond to family was strong and he loved spending special times with them. A country boy at heart, he enjoyed sitting on the front porch with boots propped up on the railing, after a fun day of target shooting, or riding trails in the woods enjoying the simplicities in life. There will be no formal services. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date at the family's home. Scott savored freedom and his wishes are for donations to be made to the NRA-National Rife Association to help preserve the 2nd Amendment he felt so strongly about.
