Sigmund Joseph Vargo

Richmond, Ohio - Sigmund Joseph Vargo, age 76, died on Sunday, May 13, 2018. He was born on January 29, 1942 in Dover, New Jersey, a son of Mary Theresa (Rulli) and Zigman Augusta Vargo. Ziggy was a 1959 graduate of Conemaugh Township High School in Davidsville, Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Army with the 38th US Infantry. On June 6, 1982 he married Dorothy Jean Nicholson. Formerly of Willoughby and North Royalton, Ohio, Ziggy had been in Richmond for more than twenty years. He was a diesel mechanic for Sysco Foods for many years and most recently worked at Harvey Home & RV Sales & Supplies, as a technician and doing RV service work. Ziggy enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of twenty-three years, Dorothy J. Vargo; an infant brother, Daniel Joseph Vargo and a brother, Joseph Daniel Vargo. Survivors include a daughter, Darla J. Duane of Uniontown, Ohio; a son, Ervin S. Bittinger of Mansfield, Ohio; Dominick D. Barricklow of Richmond, Ohio that was like a son to Ziggy; two grandsons, Tyler and Shawn Duane; a sister, Julie "Sis" Eperjessy of Johnstown, Pennsylvania and a brother, Tom Vargo of Perry, Ohio. Per Ziggy's wishes, no public services will be held.
