Youngsville, Pennsylvania - Stanley L. VanTassel, age 89, died on Thursday, November 9, 2006. He was born on September 24, 1917 in Corry, Pennsylvania to Leon L. and Amelia M. (Hurff) VanTassel. Until recently Mr. VanTassel was a resident of Kinsman, Ohio for over thirty years and formerly of Springboro, Pennsylvania for over fifteen years. He was a 1935 graduate of Corry High School and a 1948 graduate of Penn State University. Mr. VanTassel served in the European theatre during World War II in the United States Army in the 706th Bomb Squadron. He was a supervisor for the former Sealtest and later the Kraft plant in Kinsman for over thirty-five years, retiring in 1982. Mr. VanTassel was a member of the Kinsman Presbyterian Church where he served as elder and deacon for many years. He married his bride of sixty-four years, Ruth A. Taylor on June 13, 1942 and together they enjoyed traveling. Mr. VanTassel is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Howard VanTassel. Along with his wife he is survived by a son, David S. VanTassel of West Bloomfield, Michigan; a daughter, Sally S. (Greig) Trosper of Romeo, Michigan; a sister Kathryn Olson of Corry, Pennsylvania and grandchildren, Trevor, Tonnie and Rebecca Trosper. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at 1:30 P.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio with Rev. Larry A. Myers officiating. Burial of cremated remains will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Corry, Pennsylvania. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kinsman Presbyterian Church PO Box 304, Kinsman, Ohio 44428.
