Stephen Frederick Hunkus

Stephen Frederick Hunkus, age 57, of Collierville, Tennessee, passed away Monday, August 19, 2013, at his residence. Born July 20, 1956, in Warren, Ohio, he was the son of Peter William Hunkus and Adelaide Margaret (Boeving) Hunkus. He was employed by Murphy Oil Corporation as Sr. Vice President of Refinery and Retail, and he was a graduate of Michigan State University with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. Stephen enjoyed golf, spending time with his children, and building model ships and trains. He was previously employed by Shell Oil Company, United Refinery, Mapco, Kinder Morgan, and River Consulting. He was a member of Kinsman United Presbyterian Church. Preceding him in death was his father. His remaining loved ones include two sons, Christian Hunkus and Griffin Hunkus, both of Collierville, Tennessee; a daughter, Victoria Hunkus of Minneapolis, Minnesota; former wife, Cynthia Hunkus of Collierville, Tennessee; brothers, Peter Hunkus of Kinsman, Ohio and Michael Hunkus of Ocala, Florida; and sister, Darrae Shoenberger of Ann Arbor, Michigan. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 26, 2013 at 11:00am at the Kinsman Presbyterian Church, 6383 Church Street, Kinsman, Ohio with Rev. Susan Francis officiating. Burial will follow in West View Cemetery in Vernon, Ohio. Calling hours will be on Sunday, August 25, 2013, from 2:00pm until 4:00pm at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children's Hospital or the local animal shelter of your choice.
