Susan Hathaway Holder

Susan Hathaway Holder, age 70, of Andover,Ohio, died Saturday, April 7, 2012, at UPMC Horizon Hospital in Greenville, PA. She was born August 8,1941, in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter of Arthur S. Shaw and Ruth (Rose) Woyan. Formerly of Bay Village, Ohio, Mrs. Holder was a long time Andover area resident. She held many vocations during her life but excelled in sales. She ultimately gave up working to become a caregiver for her parents and this became her devotion. She attended the First United Methodist Church in Andover. She was an avid reader; loved to draw and paint with oil and water color. She had a special love for her children and grandchildren, as well as her horses, cats, and dogs. She had a passion for great food and a flair for cooking, abundant charm and charisma, an explosive, unbridled laugh and unflappable faith in God. Mrs. Holder is survived by her son, Richard (Kathy) Ripley of Silver Spring, MD, her son, Scott (Cathy) Ripley of Chapel Hill, SC, her daughter, Alice (Shannon) Ripley of New York City, NY, her daughter, Christine (Sean) Ripley of Rock Creek, OH, her son, Daniel (Andrea) Ripley of Beaufort, SC; four grandchildren, Candace, Alexander, Matthew and Susannah; her brother, Geoffrey Shaw of Andover, OH; and two ex-husbands, Bill Richard and Dick Ripley. She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Ronald E. Holder. A private celebration of Susan's life will be held at a later time.
