Theodora Ruth Smith

Andover, Ohio - Theodora Ruth Smith, age 90, died on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Eagle Pointe Skilled Nursing & Rehab. She was born on August 18, 1923, in Andover, Ohio, a daughter of Margaret Jane (Sample) and Walter James Waid. A lifelong area resident, Theo worked at the former Miller Memorial Nursing Home in the laundry and she also worked for a few years at Kennametal in Orwell, Ohio. On May 12, 1945 she married Ray Oscar Smith. She loved to garden, make crafts and always had a warm smile and time to visit with you. Theo was a member of the Andover Congregational Church. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty-one years, Ray O. Smith; a son, Ray Jerome "Snuffy" Smith; four sisters, Margaret Love Waid, Luella Hotsenpiller, Blanche (Wiebe) DeJong, and Helen Tucker and two brothers, Charles Samuel Waid and Harlan Sample Waid. Survivors include two daughters, Mary J. (Ronald) Jones of Jefferson, Ohio, Darlene J. (Bradley) Edelman of Orwell, Ohio; a son, Arnold J. (Kathy) Smith of Jefferson, Ohio; six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and daughter-in-law, Sandi, L. Smith, of Andover, Ohio. The family would like to thank the staff of Eagle Point Nursing Home and Hospice for their wonderful care. Private services will be held at the convienence of the family.
