Thomas Franklin Bower, age 95, of Sunbury, OH, died Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at his daughter's home. He was born October 9, 1916, in Gustavus, OH, a son of James Stanley and Vera Elizabeth (Semler) Bower. A former long time Gustavus resident, Mr. Bower was a graduate of Gustavus High School. He was employed as a tool and die maker for General Motors in the Packard Electric division in Warren, Ohio, for 30 years. Mr. Bower was a Southern Baptist member of the Murdock Baptist Church in Port Charlotte, FL, where he lived 30 years. He was a faithful church member and lived a life of service. Mr. Bower loved to fish, play golf, and was an avid sports fan. He faithfully followed the Cleveland Indians and the Atlanta Braves. He married his first wife, mother of his children, Ruth M. (Reese) on August 25, 1937, and she died Sept. 28, 2004. He married his second wife, Mary A. (Thompson) Hall on May 12, 2002, and she died Dec. 25, 2010. He is also preceded in death by his son, Donald Dwayne Bower; one brother, Robert S. Bower; and three sisters, Kathryn M. Williamson, Pauline M. Hadley, and Laurabelle A. Morris Lobaugh. Mr. Bower is survived by his three children, Thomas J. Bower of Sunbury, OH, Raymond L. Bower of Leeds, Utah, and Marilyn J. (Randy) Clark of Sunbury, OH; four step children, Ruth Ann (Bill) Philbrick of Chesterland, OH, Marie H. (Thomas) Logan of Gustavus, OH, Katherine J. (Gordon) Pease of Gustavus, OH, and David (Laura) Hall of Gustavus, OH; a sister, Donna M. Hruska of Hamilton, OH; a sister-in-law, Carleta Bower of Cortland, OH; 9 Grandchildren; 23 Great Grandchildren; and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 17, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main St., Kinsman,OH, with Rev. Douglas Hadley officiating. Burial will follow in Kinsman Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Monday from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
