Howland, Ohio - Virginia Maye Betts age 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 17, 2011, at Shepherd of the Valley, Howland, Ohio, after a brief illness. She was born September 9, 1924 in Roanoke, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Nola (Lewis) and Rev. S. Wayne McQuain. Maye worked for a short time at Grants Department Store and retired from Sears as Manager of the Coffee Shop. She was a member of Cross Point Bible Fellowship Church in Vienna, Ohio. Maye was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and she was an avid Cleveland Indians fan for many years. She often commented that she was very fortunate to have had a good life and two good husbands. She enjoyed vacationing in and spending winters in Florida. Maye is preceded in death by her first husband, Ted Bragg, who died on December 12, 1966 and by her second husband, Richard H. Betts, Sr., who died on October 19, 2004. Also preceding her in death is her son, Kenny Bragg and his wife Judy, four brothers and three sisters. She is survived by one son, John W. Bragg (Gloria) of Howland; three stepchildren, Richard (Alice) Betts, Jr. of Kinsman, Ohio, Judy (Paul) Faatz of Greene, Ohio and Nancy Fiorino of Kinsman, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Grey McQuain of Dunbar, West Virginia and George (Carole) McQuain of Beckley, West Virginia. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 12:00 Noon at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio. Burial will follow in Kinsman Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, November 19th from 11:00am until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, Ohio 44512 or Cross Point Bible Fellowship Church.
