Valentine Lucille McConnell

VALENTINE LUCILLE MCCONNELL, age 88, of Richmond township, Ohio, died Monday, January 28, 2008, at her home. She was born February 14, 1919, in Ashtabula, OH, the daughter of Walter and Hattie (Crecraft) Calaway. A lifetime Ashtabula county resident Mrs. McConnell was a 1938 Ashtabula High School graduate. She moved to Richmond when she married her husband, Robert J. McConnell, on February 14, 1948. She owned and operated a dairy farm with her husband for many years and operated a home egg delivery business to Ashtabula for over twenty years. She attended the Penn Line Church of Christ in Pierpont; was a long time Grange member; and was involved with TOPS. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening, and canning. Mrs. McConnell is preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Dec. 31, 2005; son, John Paul McConnell in 1952; five sisters, Betty Spencer, Edith Drake, Doris Weir, Lillian Proper, and Beverly Montgomery; and two infant siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Jeannette M. (Chip) McConnell-Snow of Austinburg, OH; her son, Dale L. (Patty) McConnell of Richmond township, OH; four grandchildren, Megan Snow, Rita McConnell, Dale R. McConnell, and Jessica McConnell; and four sisters, Pauline Thompson, Isabelle Brail, and Esther Smith, all of Ashtabula,OH, and Joanne Keller of Kingsville, OH. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 12:00 Noon at the Penn Line Church of Christ, 6968 St. Rt. 6, Pierpont, OH, with Rev. David Flack and Rev. Ronald Flack officiating. A private graveside service for burial of cremated remains will take place in Dorset Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Penn Line Church of Christ, 6968 St. Rt. 6, Pierpont,OH 44082. Arrangements are being handled by Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio.
