Cortland, Ohio- Verne G. Lobaugh, age 87, of Cortland, OH, died Thursday, September 06, 2007, at Lake Vista Nursing Home. He was born April 14, 1920, in Gustavus, Ohio, to Benjamin L. and Jennie (Sheldon) Lobaugh. A longtime Kinsman resident, Mr. Lobaugh had lived in Cortland for the past three years. He was a 1938 graduate of Gustavus High School. Mr. Lobaugh served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 187th Reg. Combat Team of the 11th Airborne division in the South Pacific. He was a farmer for many years, retiring in 1980. Following that he worked as a mechanic and carpenter. Mr. Lobaugh was a member of the Kinsman United Methodist Church; a 55 year member of the VFW Post #6263, Gustavus; the National Rifle Association; the Kinsman Golden Aires; and he had the chapel built for Kinsman Cemetery. His hobbies included woodworking and traveling. Mr. Lobaugh married Laurabelle A. (Bower) on November 27, 1974, and she died April 23, 2004. He is also preceded in death by his step son, Ronald G. Morse. He is survived by three step sons, Gerald H. Morse of Dorset,OH, Edwin D. Morse of Orwell,OH, and Larry J. Morse of Cortland,OH; 7 step grandchildren, William Bean, Sally Elliott, Dennis Morse, Sarah Morse, Amanda Pelton, Wanda Morse, and Larry Morse, Jr.;and 6 step great grandcdhildren. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, September 10, 2007, at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main St., Kinsman, OH, with Rev. David McKinnon officiating. Burial will follow in Kinsman Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Sunday, Sept. 9th from 6 to 8 P.M..
