Vesy O. Stemm, age 94, of Valrico, FL, died Saturday, February 20, 2010 at his home. He was born March 6, 1915, in Atwood, Tennessee, a son of Joseph L. and Hattie (Baker) Stemm. A former long time Andover resident, Mr. Stemm had lived in Florida for the past 17 years. He retired from Ohio Edison in 1978 after 25 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Andover. In his younger years, Mr. Stemm attended the Eastern Nazarene College. He sang in a Men's Quartet; directed the choir in several churches; and was a minister of music. Mr. Stemm is survived by his daughter, Jean Petrella of Valrico, FL; two sons, Stephen Stemm of Jackson, Michigan, and Joseph Stemm of Glendale, Arizona; 4 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Viola (Kennedy) Stemm in 1997; three sisters, Clara Hart, Pearl Odom, and Mary Vines; and two brothers, Adrian Leo Stemm and Clyde Stemm. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 5, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church, 181 S. Main St., Andover, OH, with Rev. Vernon Palo officiating.
