Viola L. Buie

Viola L. Buie, age 86, of Andover, Ohio, died Thursday, March 31, 2011, at her home. She was born April 17, 1924, in Ashtabula, Ohio, a daughter of Harley and Anna M. (Page) Simon, Sr. A lifetime area resident, Mrs. Buie was employed by Andover Industries, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Andover Christian Church; and the Retirees Club. She enjoyed playing cards and gardening. She especially loved violets and pansies. She loved to be with her family and grandchildren; and was one to always put everyone else first; and she loved her cat, Suzie. Mrs. Buie married Francis H. â�œPeteâ₝ Buie, Sr. on Dec. 21, 1940; and he preceded her in death on January 20, 1997. She is also preceded in death by her parents; her great granddaughter, Lilliana Angel Buie; her great-great grandson, Hayden Camp; and four brothers, Arthur, Homer, Franklin, and Harley Simon, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Janet (Bob) Nejbauer of Glendale, AZ, her daughter, Judith (Keith Sr.) Camp of Rome, OH, her son, Francis â�œBoâ₝ (Joann) Buie, Jr. of Tempe, AZ; her daughter, Patricia Buie of Andover, OH, her daughter, Donna (Hallie) Adams of Andover, OH, 18 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; two sisters, Dora Stevens of Toccoa, GA, and Joan Johnson of Jamestown,PA; two brothers, Robert (Ruth) Simon of Ashtabula,OH, and Norman (Juanita) Simon of Jamestown, PA; one sister-in-law, Patricia Simon of Ashtabula,OH; numerous nieces and nephews; and her close friend, Joanne Burlingham. The family would like to give our special thanks to Hospice of the Western Reserve caregivers and Doris, Denice, Dodie, Sue, Cindy, and Joan. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 4, 2011, at 1:00 P.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect St., Andover,OH, with Pastor Robert Gears officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Andover, OH. Calling hours will be on Sunday, April 3rd from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
