Virginia P. Wilson

Gustavus, OH-- Virginia P. Wilson, age 84, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, October 7, 2016. She was born September 15,1932, in Swissvale, PA, a daughter of George and Bessie (Dickson) Mayer. A long time resident of Gustavus, Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker and active in her church and children's school. She was a founding member of the Gustavus Elementary School Parent organization, P.I.E., where she helped organize many activities and start the Christmas corner. She served as a Sunday school teacher for many years at the Gustavus Federated Church; and she was a past member of the Gustavus Church Ladies Guild. She currently had been a member of the Cherry Valley First Church of God. Mrs. Wilson loved to play her piano and organ and watch game shows on television. She enjoyed crocheting, baking, and playing slot machines. Mrs. Wilson married Craig E. Wilson, Sr., on July 17, 1951, and he preceded her in death on June 20, 2015. She is also preceded by her parents; her daughter, Ellen Marie Wilson; two brothers, George and Raymond Mayer; and three sisters, Esther Dill, Ethel Horst, and Bessie Mae Mayer. She is survived by her children, Karen (Phil) Ryder of Newport, NC, Joyce (Gary) Morrison of Cherry Valley township, Craig (Vicki) Wilson, Jr. of Gustavus township, Kenny (Carol) Wilson of Gustavus township, Dale Wilson of Kinsman, John (Jill) Wilson of Gustavus township, Debbie (Brad) Masters of Gustavus township, Lisa (Victor) Doran of Maple Park, IL, and Leslie (Gene) Trask of Southington; 16 Grandchildren; 20 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Granddaughter; and one sister, Margaret "Peg" Dreshman of Munhall, PA. Private services will be held for the family. Burial of cremated remains will take place in Gustavus Cemetery.
