Wanda M. Britton

Wanda M. Britton, age 80, died on Friday, July 25, 2008, in Tallahassee, Florida. She was born on August 29, 1927, in Andover, Ohio, the daughter of Sherman M. and Gladys E. (Hall) Smock. Mrs. Britton was a 1945 graduate of Andover High School. She was a bookkeeper for the Ohio Edison Company in Andover, Bill Hall Chevrolet of Andover, and for Roberts Sand Company of Tallahassee, Florida. Mrs. Britton was a member and treasurer of the Lake Ellen Baptist Church in Medart, Florida, where she loved to teach the adult women's Sunday School class. She was the treasurer of the Panacea Volunteer Fire Department. Mrs. Britton cross stitching, doing crossword puzzles, reading and collecting bells and Avon plates. She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, D. Lyle Britton, whom she married on July 4, 1947. Also preceding her in death are her parents; a daughter, Pamela Rae Britton; a son, Gary L. Britton, Sr. and two sisters; Shirley Corlew and Lois Hawkins Burns. Survivors include a son R. Rex (Janet) Britton of Andover, Ohio; a daughter, Diane M. (Jim) Curlee of Crawfordville, Florida; a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Britton of New Lyme, Ohio; a brother, Harry (Joan) Smock of Andover, Ohio; three granddaughters, Renae, Pam, and Paulette; six grandsons, Neil, Todd, Troy, Donnie, Gary, Jr. and Tim; eighteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at 11:00 A.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio. Burial will follow in Williamsfield Center Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 29th, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
