Mecca, Ohio - Wayne Leland Bancroft, age 75, died on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center in Youngstown, Ohio after a sudden illness. He was born on July 6, 1941 in Nelson township, Ohio a son of Viola Emma (Short) and Wayne Lancelot Bancroft. Wayne was a 1959 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and served in the United States Navy during the Cuban Crisis. He owned and operated a Sohio Service Station before going to work for General Motors - Packard Electric for over forty-three years, retiring in 2006. Wayne was a member of the NRA, loved to garden and keep his yard immaculate, go for motorcycle rides, but most folks will remember him for his helping hand. He was always around to lend a hand with most any project and spend time with his grandchildren. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Edward Bancroft and a sister, Flo Towers. Survivors include his daughter, Michelle L. (Andrew) Blauser of Fredonia, Pennsylvania; two sons, Leland W. (Lorraine) Bancroft of Elkton, Maryland and Darrin T. Bancroft of Mecca, Ohio; a sister, Claudia Bancroft and a brother, William Bancroft both of Cortland, Ohio; his longtime girlfriend, Cheri Bancroft of Brookfield, Ohio; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren No public services will be held.
