Wayne C. Taylor

d. September 14, 2013

Wayne C. Taylor went home to heaven on Saturday, September 14, 2013. He was born on October 9, 1920 and raised on a farm in Bainbridge, Ohio a son of Clell K. and Gladys (Root) Taylor. Mr. Taylor served in the United States Army during World War II as an orderly and was on the “Bed Pan Commando” in Texas. He raised rabbits and chickens in Chagrin Falls, Ohio while working at Hillside Dairy and NW Bakery (Kroger’s) in Cleveland, Ohio. He did a stint with the Post Office but did not like walking in the winter. He retired from the NW Bakery in 1986 but was sure to attend the BCTGM Local No. 19 Christmas Parties. Mr. Taylor moved to Andover with his wife Gloria (Holbrook) Taylor in 1990. He was a city farmer surrounded by full time farmers whom he respected and called his friends. Always growing tomatoes, he was sure to keep an eye on his neighbor’s fields and always cheered on his favorite teams the Cleveland Browns & Cavaliers. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Charles Taylor and two grandchildren, Chris and Christopher. Survivors include his three daughters, Susan (Keith) Cortez of Oakland, California, Carol G. “Jessie” Taylor of Andover, Ohio and Jeanne (Frank) Jackson of Mayfield, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Melanie Chaney, Linda (Jeff) Dively, Lynn (Jim) Kramer, Paul Meier, Vince Meier, David and Daniel Leegrand. He was a proud great grandfather of ten, Nicole and Rachel Chaney, Alex, Christopher and Joshua Divley, Jimmy, Breanna, Connor and Elizabeth Kramer and Nicholas Meier. In remembrance of Wayne put in an honest day’s work, praise your Lord in your way. Take care of you and yours each day and may all be right in your world. A graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 2:00pm at Evergreen Cemetery in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 10:00am at the Bainbridge Community United Church of Christ.
