William D. Brainard

William D. Brainard, 79 years old, of Gustavus, Ohio, died April 7, 2005, at his home. Mr. Brainard was born on September 23, 1925, in Gustavus to Leo and M. Olive (Jameson) Brainard, and lived all of his life in Gustavus. He was a 1944 graduate of Gustavus High School. Mr. Brainard was an equipment operator for the Trumbull County Highway Dept. for over 30 years and retired in 1980. He married Marion E. Vanderslice on April 12, 1952. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, and was a life member of the Burdette Edgar Totten VFW Post #6263 of Gustavus. He enjoyed the outdoors, taking morning drives, Nascar Racing and Western movies. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a son, Leo D. Brainard; and 5 brothers, Floyd, Loren, Arden, Earl and Paul Brainard. He is survived by his daughter, Kathie D. (David) Mokri, of Gustavus; two sons, Bruce D. (Dorraine) Brainard of Gustavus; and Gary L. (Dolores) Brainard of Hartford; three sisters, Gladys Bradford and Audrey Cico, both of Gustavus; and Belva McAllister of Winterhaven, FL; a brother, Wade Brainard of Cortland; 8 grandchildren, Heidi (Craig) Keller, Jeffrey Brainard, Jeremy, Kyle, Lindsay Brainard, Trina (Charles) Sawtelle, Joshua and Shawn Brainard; and great grandson, Dylan Keller. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 11, 2005, at 1:30p.m. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio. Burial will follow in Gustavus Cemetery.
