William R. Goecker

William R. Goecker, age 81, of Williamsfield, Ohio, died Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at his home. He was born May 8,1930, in Sorell, Canada, a son of Fred Goecker and Marie (Goulet) Perrault. Formerly of Brook Park, Ohio, Mr. Goecker had lived in Williamsfield since 1975. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the U.S. Air Force. He owned and operated "Bill's Food Market" in Cleveland, Williamsfield, and at Holiday Camplands in Andover; and at one time was an employee of Williamsfield Township. Mr. Goecker was a life member of the Kinsman American Legion Post #506; a member of the Food Dealers Association; and the Pymatuning Lake Association. He was an avid reader of westerns and enjoyed western movies as well; and enjoyed playing cards. In his earlier years he loved to go camping with his family and fishing with his girls. Survivors include his wife, Naoma J. (Gapen) Goecker, whom he married Feb. 5, 1956; his four daughters, Pam Kuhn of Gustavus Township, OH, Sharon (Butch) Young of Williamsfield, OH, Lynda (Ken) Piper of Cherry Valley Township, OH, and Lori (Bob) McElroy of Hartsgrove, OH; five grandchildren, Frank (Fallon) Kuhn III, Robyn Kuhn, Brian Young, Cindy (Tim) McElroy, and Joe McElroy; three step grandchildren, Lori (Jim) Tabor, Bob (Lisa) Young, and Kathy (Garrett) Young; two great grandchildren, Ayden and Abby; four step great grandchildren, JC, Nicole, Sophia, and Bobby; one sister, Betty Socha of Cleveland, OH; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Fred and Richard Goecker; and two sisters, Rose Mitocky and Dorothy Hughes. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main St., Kinsman,OH. Cremation will follow services. A dinner for those attending the funeral will be served immediately following at the Williamsfield Community Center. Calling hours will be on Friday, March 2nd from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home and also on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
