Kinsman, Ohio - William R. Merrifield, Sr., age 63, died on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Bill was born on October 24, 1947 in Warren, Ohio, the son of Stella Pletcher Barnum and William James Merrifield. He was a 1965 graduate of Austintown High School. After high school Bill received his Bachelors Degree in business from Youngstown State University and an MBA from Kent State University. On September 17, 1970 he married Judith A. Orr. A longtime Kinsman resident, Bill served in the United States Army and was a member of the American Field Association. Bill co-owned and operated Trumco Lumber and Trumbull Forest Products, both in Atlantic, Pennsylvania. He enjoyed hunting, sailing, raising and training English Pointers and operating Merri-Hill Kennel & Stables Bill is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Judith A. Merrifield of Kinsman, Ohio; his daughter, Nicole J. (Andrew) Steenhausen of Redlands, California; his son, William R. Merrifield, Jr. of Washington D.C.; his mother, Stella Cairnes of Dunedin, Florida; his father, William J.(Joan) Merrifield of Vienna, Ohio; two brothers, Timothy (Linda) Merrifield of Canfield, Ohio and Eugene Pletcher of Largo, Florida; a sister, Lori O'Donovan of Circleville, New York and a granddaughter, Ava Marion Steenhausen of Redlands, California. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kinsman Presbyterian Church, PO Box 305, Kinsman, OH 44428.
