Champion, Ohio - William Parker, 86 of Champion, Ohio, died on Sunday, June 18, 2006. He was born on February 20, 1920 in West Middlesex, Pennsylvania to Roy R. and Lillian (MacArthur) Parker. Formerly of Warren and Andover, Ohio, Mr. Parker attended Leavittsburg High School until 1942 when he joined the United States Navy. Mr. Parker served for the Navy during World War II in both the European and African theaters. Mr. Parker retired after 40 years of service at the former Copperweld Steel Company. He was a member of the VFW in both Warren and Andover, Ohio. Mr. Parker was formerly the sexton of Andover Village and township Cemeteries. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing baseball for the Copperweld League and was an avid Cleveland Indians Fan. Mr. Parker married Janet D. Taylor on November 2, 1968. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter Nancy Jean Parker and sisters Mary E. Spencer, Ethel Shearer, and Maxine Luoma. Survivors include his daughter Sally E. (Steve) Anderson of Champion, a grandson S. Andrew Anderson of Champion, and three sisters, Lillian Tomko of Smyrna, Georgia, Vera Baluck of Warren, and Agnes Morgan of Howland, Ohio. Burial of cremated remains will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Andover, Ohio. No calling hours or public services will be held.
