William R. Thompson, 73 years old, of Johnston Twp., Ohio, died on Sunday, July 4, 2004, at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born May 25, 1931, in Cambridge, Ohio, to Harry and Mabel (Myers) Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force for over 35 years. He retired in 1986 as a Master Sergeant E-9. He served the last 26 years of his military service as an aircraft mechanic at the Youngstown Air Base. He was a lifetime member of the Johnston V.F.W. #7614 and the Johnston Federated United Methodist Church. Mr. Thompson loved to travel, play golf and cards. He married Bernice L. (Conner) on July 7, 1951. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles and Clarence Thompson. He is survived by his wife, Bernice L. Thompson of Johnston Twp, OH; his daughter, Melodie L. Long of Johnstown Twp, OH; his son, William Dale Thompson of Johnston Twp, OH; his daughter, Pamela M. Acierno of Johnston Twp., OH; his brother, Leonard W. Thompson of Cambridge, OH; his nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at 11:00a.m. at Johnston Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
