William G. Whittington

Dorset, Ohio - William G. Whittington, age 68, died on Thursday, June 5, 2008, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born on September 7, 1939, in Winfield (Putman County) West Virginia, the son of Carl C. and Lilly M. (Harvey) Whittington. Mr. Whittington served in the United States National Guard, and was a self-employed welder. On April 21, 1959 he married Carol T. McCallister. He loved to spend time with his wife of forty-nine years. Mr. Whittington enjoyed fishing, reading and was the family storyteller. His parents, a son James Morrison; a sister, Leona Canterbury; and two brothers, Joseph and Holbert Whittington, precede him in death. Survivors include his wife, Carol T. Whittington of Dorset, Ohio; two daughters, V. June Knapp of Geneva, Ohio and Carol J. Knapp of Dorset, Ohio; three sons, William W. (Mary) Whittington of Williamsfield, Ohio, Richard L. (Debbie) Whittington of Kingsville, Ohio and Steven D. (Kathryn) Whittington of Kingsville, Ohio; three sisters, Roxie (Blake) Johnson, Shirley Watson, and Jewell (Doug) Williams; four brothers, Charlie (Leona) Whittington, Benjamin (Doty) Whittington, John (Sharon) Whittington and Dwaine (Maria) Whittington; fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 9, 2008 at Noon at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio. Burial will follow in Dorset Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 9th from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
